As we traded our New York address for a London one, we traded in our home on the big ol' cloud as well. You can now find us here: nycgirlinlondon.blogspot.com

Paris Is Always a Good Idea...
This post is about Paris. But it is also about London, because, well, now that we live here, Paris is as close as Connecticut used to be, which means there will be lots of Paris, and today, Paris and its amazing flea markets - I'll get to them - are helping me furnish my London home. I am rather thrilled about this prospect. My London apartment is...well, I just love it. I feel so lucky to have found it, and its an enormous rambling old world apartment on two floors...the first floor with an elegant reception room and a study with enormous twelve feet ceilings and fireplaces, and the lower floor three bedrooms and a dining room, three baths in luscious carrara marble, as well as french windows opening up onto a little private patio....more space than we know what to do with, but hopefully a way for us to spoil all our visiting friends. After New York we are thrilled to have so much space and naturally, my first thought turned to decorating. When I lived in France a few years ago, I fell in love for the marches aux puces outside of Paris, as the antique market at Clignancourt is affectionately called, as many before me have fallen in love. These markets are every aesthete's dream, a veritable treasure trove of deliciously patinaed goodies. I always carried back the most lovely of curiosities and accessories from the market, old french silver, plaster busts, sun-washed antique linens, you name it. Secretly, however, I lusted after the furniture - the brass and mahogany secretaires a abbattant, the deliciously feminine capitonne tufted beds, and those gorgeous gilded mirrors that can never be reproduced with the right patina - they all tortured me. I couldn't ship to New York - too pricy. But, in London, I no longer have that problem, and we are gearing up for a furniture shopping trip of epic proportions that I can't wait to tell you all about. Maybe we will take a night at the Ritz on Place Vendome, where my husband and I were engaged during my favorite Paris weekend of all time, with its darling Coco Chanel Suite. Speaking of Chanel, I'm dreaming up a glam palette of white, black and gold for our new home and I hope I find some great worn and enormous Louis Philippe mirrors and perhaps a black lacquer bureau plat desk. All I know for certain is there will be many french pastries involved during our three day trip. A bientot!

Moving to London!
Oh my god. Even the title of this post makes me want to squeal all over again. Now this is why I disappeared for a few self-indulgent weeks. After returning to New York, I headed straight back to Europe. I've been spending the last month in Florence (for a fabulous wedding at Villa Mangiacane, which is straight out of a fantasy Slim Aarons book), Milan (Did you see the Prada men's show a few days ago? Studs and cowboys and rhinestones...so fun!), and yet again, London. And after returning, the hubs and I have made a huge decision....we are not ending our European adventure but have decided, instead, that we are MOVING TO LONDON. He will be director of his London office, and I will be working with Burberry on a special position. We are terrified/thrilled/excited, naturally, but most importantly, we have put in an offer on a gorgeous new home in London, on Eaton Square. A long time ago, I saved the above picture in my inspiration folder, and it gave me goosebumps to realize that we are moving into this exact same beautiful white stucco building, and that there will be our very own window. Can you hardly believe it?

A Sneak Peek of My Home...
......well my lovelies, a first on chiclittleblog....i've finally worked up the courage to show you a little sneak peek of something altogether more personal....a tiny glimpse of our little city abode pre-soiree, as several of you asked for in my last post, in all its grainy cell phone glory....regardless, i did want to share with you how lovely the flowers were -- blooming a dramatic eight feet off the mantels -- how lovely the glittering chandelier looked against all of that gorgeous period molding, and to tell you, with great satisfaction, what a lovely fete it turned out to be. here's the tinest little nighttime glimpse of our little new york sanctuary - our home. bisous
